Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): john deere pull cord, pull cord stuck

I've got a new john deere R54RKB and the pull cord is jammed out fully extended.......any idea what the problem might be?

Probably the starter pawls are hung up.  You'll need to remove the starter from the engine to see for sure.  It's also possible the spring is broken or it's jammed up for some other reason.  As it's brand new, I wouldn't recommend working on it as JD is very picky about their warranties.  I would call JD's customer service for a service center in your area and have then fix it.
