Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn mower engine replacement, craftsman riding lawn mower, briggs stratton engine

I have a Craftsman riding lawn mower model # 917.272761 with a Briggs & Stratton engine model # 31H777 0202-E1.  What engine is available that can be used to replace the current engine?

There should be some 31h777 0202 engines available.  Is your local Briggs shop not able to get you one?  Or are you wanting a different brand?  What's wrong with your current engine that requires a replacement?  Have you considered using a short block?  Thanks, PK.
