Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): small motor- frozen pull cord, seized engine

HI Mr Jones, Re:  Tecumseh snow blower engineHSK50/ 7 hp.
Knew that it needed oil.  ran the enginge to warm it up so that oil would drain.  Drained oil, replaced with fresh oil.  Oil that I removed was black and thin.  went to pull the start cord and the cord would not budge. seems to be frozen.  Not sure if this is a terminal/fatal situation.  If you had any thoughts.  thanks

Pull the spark plug first and see if oil is in the cylinder.  Once you pull the plug, see if the engine will turn over.  If it won't, I'd pull the starter off and see that it's not jammed.  Try this and let me know what you get and we'll go from there.  Thanks, PK.
