Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): not charging, lincon welder, charging system

i have a16 hp onan gas motor on a lincon welder can't find any model number on the motor the charging system is seprate from welder i wonder if there is fusses in the system thank you for any help morris

I personally don't know the model or vintage of the engine either.  Most of the engines that are on welders have a separate charging system.  The charging coil is located under the flywheel.  Look for wires coming out from behind the blower housing on the engine.  There should be a regulator on the blower housing somewhere.

Most Rental agencies have service manuals or know where to get them for your engine.  Since we don't have a model number, we need to identify the engine first.
