Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): grease for gear case, gear case, gear oil

Question
I have a sears snowblower, model # 536.887990.  It calls for lubriplate grease in the gear case.  Is there another grease that I can substitute for the lubriplate as it only comes in large quantities and is expensive?
