QuestionQUESTION: I just broke the auger shaft on my HS828 Honda Snowblower. I got a piece of a downed tree limb caught in the auger. I bought the parts to replace the shaft, but my question really goes to part 17 in the parts explosion. It seems to be a support that attached to the top of the transmission case. My machine (S/N SZAK-2043413) does not have this support. It shows on the parts diagram but indicates that it is not applicable. Without a support, the shaft is free to get "pushed up" if something gets caught in the auger. It seems that this was fixed in later versions of this machine. Is there a retrofit?
ANSWER: Hello John:
I have Not Seen a Kit to Add this Support to Any of the Honda Snow Blowers that did Not have this Support Bracket from the Factory. I have Added a Support Bracket to Some of my Customers Machines because of Problems with the Auger Raising as you Stated. The Last Time I had a Conversation about this Problem with the Honda Tech, there was No Retro Fit (Up Grade) for Other Units that Did Not have this Support for the Auger. That was 2 Years ago. I will Contact my Honda Representative on Monday and if there is a Retrofit/Upgrade for your Unit, then I will Forward the Information to you. Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

QUESTION: John B.,
Thanks for following my question up with a Honda rep. tomorrow. If that does not bear fruit, could I ask what you did to add a support bracket? Thanks again very much.
John P.
AnswerHello Again John:
No Worries. I have One of the Units in the Shop for Servicing and will take a Look at it in the AM and get Back to you. If I Remember Correctly I made a "T" Bracket of Sorts with a Brass C that the Auger Shaft Would Rub if it Tried to Raise. I Did Not want Steel to Steel and Brass was Easest to Get. An Old Engine Main Bearing was Used. Thats been 5 or 6 Years ago and I have McGuivered a Lot of Things Since then. LOL. I will Contact you Sometime Tomorrow. Thanks.

Hi Again John:
>>I Just Spoke with the Honda Technician and was Informed that you can Bolt the "Support" (Called a Auger Housing Bracket) to your Machine. You May have to do a Little Cutting and Drilling to the Bracket, But it can be Used on your Unit.
>>The Honda Part Number is 76714-V03-000.
