Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): totor s200 snow blower, scott briggs, bolt and nut
QuestionHi Eric. I know this is a old blower but it works great. The pull cord came out and to work on it I had to take the housing off. Now this was rivited on and not bolted in. I thought I could just break the 4 rivets do what needed to and replace them with screws. This isn't working well at all. Do you have any suggestions? I don't have a rivet gun so that might be tough. Thanks Scott
AnswerBriggs sells starter screws that will work. The screws are nothing more than a number 10 fine thread bolt and nut. You can purchase similar screws from Home Depot or Lowe's. You will have to remove the engine shroud to install the screws.
Rivets are difficut to break. I either drill off the rivet heads or grind them off with a dremel tool. Replace the rivets with screws.
