Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): snowthrower, crankcase oil, recoil starter
QuestionIt is supposed to snow here tomorrow and thought I should start the thrower. It is a Craftsman 9 HP electric start.
I checked the oil and put some gas in, primed and hit the start button. The engine turned but didn't start. I added some gas and reprimed. This time it turned and then the engine didn't turn just the starter spun. I then tried to pull the starter cord and couldn't turn a thing. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Hank
AnswerHello Hank:
Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit and Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manuals and Better Assist you. Is the Crankcase Over Filled? Does the Crankcase Oil Smell of Gas? Turn the Engine Backwards by Hand a Small Amount and then Try the Recoil Starter Again. Does the Recoil Starter Turn the Engine Now? Does the Engine Turn with the Spark Plug Out? Thanks.
