Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): How is the best way to clean chainsaw carbs., tiny screw, auto parts store
QuestionHow would be the best way for me to clean a chainsaws carburetor? Could I get a can of pressurized carb. cleaner and fill a cup and sit the carb in the stuff? what do you think?
thanks
AnswerThey actually sell a crab cleaner in a little paint can size can to soak carbs in with the correct chemicals need. It even comes with a basket to lower, and raise the parts after. Cost at any auto parts store is about $19.99. Need to carefully remove the carb from the saw, watching how everything comes apart, and the order they come apart. Watching if a diaphragm mounts first, or the gasket. Removing the tiny screw that holds down the needle valve spring. After disassembled spraying carb cleaner into each little hole, and port, followed by pressurized air. Then a soaking in the parts cleaner for the recommended time on the can. Removing the parts, then usually rinsing them in warm water, and using the pressurized air again to dry, and finish cleaning them out. Then reinstalling the new parts.....Tom
