Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): valve settings, valve clearances, exhast
QuestionJohn, I am working on an Koler engine Model-k241p, spec.46716d,and serial no.6419828. I had it running but it would not idle, then all of a sudden no fuel. I checked the valves and man were they dirty and not quite seating, I cleaned and cut a new seat then laped them in at intake is a tight .009 and exhast is a lose .o10. And she still won't suck gas. Hope you have the answer, cause man I don't. I would app. all the help you experts can give. Thanks Duane
AnswerHello Duane:
From your Description it Sounds like the Valve Clearances are too Close. According to the Service Manual, the Valve Clearances are as Follows: Intake .008 - .010 and the Exhaust .017 - .019. You can View a Breakdown of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.kohlerplus.com/login.asp and Select Enter as Guest. Now Select the Thumbnail of the Engine Catalog you Wish to View. Select the K Series Thumbnail. Select the K241 Service Manual and Download it. This is a Complete Service Manual just like the One Used in the Shop. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
Good Luck
