Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): .craftsman wont start, ground location, fuel cap
QuestionI have a craftsman 42" cut rider model#cv16s earlier this season the mower got harder each time to start. Now it won't start at all. you turn the key to engage the engine and all you get is a single click. Nothing else. I thought that it was coming from the solenoid and changed it out but it didn't change anything still just a single click. Please give me some idea as what to do please. Thank you for your help
AnswerFirst, click you hear is the solenoid engaging. I would start by checking the battery the battery has to have 12.6 volts to start the engine.
With as you say the engine got harder and harder to start I would question maintenance. Check your spark plugs yo be sure they are not fowled or if they have been in for a while like one season replace them. Also change oil replace air filter clean fuel cap.
If the battery is low you may have to check the output of your stater to be sure the battery is charged. The 1st Pl. I would look would be any ground location and all connectors to be sure there may are tight .
Good luck
