9040H I have a Craftsman Lawn tractor MDL# 917.272061. I need advice on how to remove the front wheel "flanged bearing" Part# 9040H. Does the new one need to be pressed in with a machine?

   Normally No you would not need to machine press this bearing In  but to get it in you do need to apply some pressure try this.
with the rim laying flat coat both the flange side and the hole on the rim with some grease.
set your bearing into the hole
placing a block of wood onto the bering keeping it level use a hammer to hit the wood with thus driving this part in.
But other then that this Part should slide in without this method Bearings are meant to be loose Don
