Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Coils, briggs stratton, spark plug wire
QuestionHi Fred,
Besides checking for spark how would I test a coil on a Briggs & Stratton? (perhaps with a meter?) Once I thought there was no spark, but then it started so I question my ability to see it.
Thank you!
Ronnie
AnswerIf you have spark in the cylinder but not outside you may have a loose or fractured spark plug wire. You do need special equipment to charge and fire a coil. The best tool is a spark tester, available form many sources. They are very inexpensive for a small engine.
