Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Cub Cadet Clanged, Died, No Compression, piston rod, cub cadet
QuestionMy Cub Cadet LT1045 with less than 80 mowing hours clanged slightly after 45 minutes of mowing today, died, and won't start. The starter turns and turns, but has no compression. What have I done?
AnswerJim,
Sounds to me Like you threw the Piston rod the piston may be at Top But the lower end where the screws bolt it to the Camshaft has either broke off or just came undone.
No Compression Means it is the above or you have a stuck valve which is open and not allowing compression either way it is a job for a professional Let your local repair shop crack open the block and see what they discover
Jim Another thing to consider is the rings may have failed in the Engine this has been known as a key defect in this series the rings consist of 3 each is .010" different if one breaks the rest fall right into the same failure Either Way take that machine into a Cadet dealer they should fix it under warranty for you
