Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 2nd question ----Valve problem, compression stroke, valve clearance
QuestionJohn I really want to thank you for responding quick to my cry for help. I have a few questions by rotating the crank the wire came out to the furtherest point. At this point I did not know which one to set and and whether or not to set both valves or set one and then rotate another complete turn and set the other. Another question which is the intake top or bottom? Just back from trying all of the above and I still have popping out of the carb and no power. I hope you can give me some idea in what I am doing wrong. What about the valve rods is there a difference and maybe I put them in wrong if there is? Thanks, Nate
AnswerHello Nate:
If the Engine was at TDC on the Compression Stroke, then Both Valves for the Same Cylinder are Set at the Same Time. Then if you have a Second Cylinder, you Set it at TDC and Set Both the Intake and Exhaust Valve Clearance at the Same Time Also. Is it Possible the Flywheel Key is Damaged? If No, then there May be a Burnt Valve. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
Good Luck
