Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Vantage 3.5, tecumseh vantage, engine crankcase
QuestionHi! I can't seem to find anywhere how much oil to put in my lawnmower... It is a Tecumseh Vantage 3.5 engine model TVS90. There is not a dipstick on it just a fill cap. I just drained it and can't really measure the old as I think over time it has possibly "burned" it up as not much at all came out. The lawn mower has been around for a bit and unfortunately I can't seem to locate any paperwork. Nor am I having any luck on google! :( I would greatly appreciate your input concerning this. The only thing I came up with at this point seemed to say 21oz. It took only 11 and I think it may be too much, it is filled completely, but I am afraid it may be too much. I have no problem draining it and starting over. Thank you again in advance.
AnswerHello Amber:
If this Engine has the Oil Fill that is Located Near the Bottom of the Engine Crankcase with a Male Plug, then it is Filled to the Top of the Threads. If this Engine has a Fill Tube that Extends from the Top Of the Engine Down to the Fill Hole, then there is Supposed to be a Dip Stick Attached to the Cap. 21 oz is the Normal Amount of Oil to Fill Most Newer Engines. Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have a PDF Site Addy that May Assist you Also. http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf . If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
Good Luck
