Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): kawasaki 6.5hp smokes bad (blue), blown head gasket, crankcase breather

QUESTION: I have a 6.5hp kawasaki that smokes bad at startup and tapers off when running.  It is on a toro commercial mower.  When you stop to dump the bag it will smoke bad again when warm then taper off.  Do you think its a valve guide problem, breather, rings  This mower was given to me by an old guy cause its heavy but I like it for my commercial work.  Lots of power!!!  I currently have 10W-30 in it would this make a difference?

Hello Again Dale:

Sorry for the Delay. I had PC Problems and it Took a Whole Day to Locate and Correct the Problem. I Located the Breakdown for this Engine. The Smoking can be Caused by a Blown Head Gasket or Bad/Worn Rings. I Suggest you Remove the Cylinder Head First thing in the Am After the Engine has Set Overnight. If you have a Lot of Oil Setting in the Cylinder when the Head is Removed and the Head Gasket is Good, then Re-Ring the Engine. The Rings are Worn and Allowing the Oil to Seep by when the Engine is Not in Use.
