battery gos down and is not recharged by electrical system on mower  l120 john deere  how do you check voltage regulator? please help with this. thanks

Refer to the link to idetify your alternator:

Use a voltmeter and check the voltage at the electrical connector as per the chart.

Check the AC directly from the alternator if you have a regulator.  Check DC at the connector if you do not have a regulator.

Do you have a voltmeter?
