Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): mower engines dies upon throttle up, motor tecumseh, question pool
QuestionMy lawn tractor motor (Tecumseh OHV135) starts and idles good, but when I try to push the throttle to full run power it will not run up and just backfires etc. and dies. It is not the choke or linkage everything appears to be moving freely. Cleaned the carb and bowl. It was doing fine until just recently. Engine is 4 years old, well mantained, has a "C" (250hrs normal life) on data plate. Could it be valves, valve adjustment, governor, low compression, blocked intake or exaust ports, rings etc? I have had tired old motors lose power with age but would still go to full throttle. I am puzzled?
