Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Compresion, hp briggs, valve stems
QuestionWhat is considered a good compresion on a 3.5-5.5 hp briggs/honda eng.
AnswerHello Jim:
80psi is the Lowest Compression for Any Engine. At 75psi or Less, you have Idling and Power Problems. If you have a Newer Engine that has the Decompression for Easy Starting; the OEM Says to Turn the Engine Sharpley in Reverse Rotation and if the Engine Kicks Back, the Compression is Good. I Remove the Valves and Use Shortened Valve Stems or Loosen the Rocker Arms and Check the Comopression on All Engines with a Compresion Gauge. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
Good Luck
