Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): worm gear spacing for poulan chainsaw, worm drive, worm gear
QuestionI just replaced the oiler and worm gear on my chain saw. I am not sure if the spacing is correct. Is there a way to test it without putting it back together? I did that once and didn't seem to be getting any chain oil to come out.
Thanks
AnswerHello Dale:
Did you Prime the Oiler Pump? A New Oiler Pump Sometimes Requires Priming. I Usually Submerge the Oil Pump in Oil and Turn it Until the Oil is Inside the Pump. Then Install the Pump. I have Never Heard of a Clearance/Spacing for the Worm Drive and Pump. Usually the Pump is Simply Installed and if Primed as Mentioned Above it will Work. Sometimes you can Lightly Charge the Oil Tank and Force the Oil into the Pump and Prime it this Way. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram... and Select the Catalog Poulan/Weed Eater. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
Good Luck
