Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Generac portable generator, generac portables com, crank shaft
QuestionHi John:
I previously inquired about how to remove the armature form the crank shaft of 10 hp motor. I was probable not very clear in what I was looking for in assistance. I have disassembled the generator by removing the farthermost cover and the stator winding leaving me with the armature still attached to the crankshaft. There are 4 bolts behind a plate attaching the remaining cover to get to them I need to remove the armature. I have removed the long bolt that holds the armature to the crankshaft but am unable to remover the armature. I seems to be mostly plastic with a metal center. Is there a special tool needed or some trick to removing this armature. Your last response to me directed me to a powerwasher web site. No correlation to a portable electric generator
AnswerHello Again Mark:
Sorry About the Wrong Site Addy. My PC Lists the Site Addys in ABC Order and I Must have Selected the Pressure Washer Site Instead of the Generator Site. You can View a Breakdown of this Generator at this Site Addy; http://www.generac-portables.com/ and Select the Service and Support Tab and Select Operators Manuals. I have a Special Tool for Pulling the Armeture. You can Make a Puller with some 1/4" - 3/8" Flat Steel and a Harmonic Balance Puller. The Flat Steel Slides Between the Armeture and the Engine Base. The Puller is Attached to the Steel. Once you have the Puller Installed and Pressure Apllied; Hit the Puller with a Hammer and Jar the Puller and Armeture. This Loosens the Press Fit of the Armeture. You May have to Tighten the Puller and Hit it a Few Times, Until the Armeture is Free for Removal. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
Good Luck
