Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Murayama Blower, piston ring, previous question
QuestionHello John. A week or so ago I had a question regarding my poorly running Murayama BL6700 backpack blower. In removing the muffler, I broke 1 muffler bolt which I tried to get out by using an easy out, which ended up breaking off. I tried drilling it out but can not get it out and. Talking to my Murayama dealer, he said I would need to buy a new cylinder. In my previous question, you said I should not remove the cylinder to access the piston to clean the crown, but it now appears I will need to replace the cylinder. Do you have any suggestions on removal and reinstallation of he cylinder such as torque setting for the 4 bolts holding he cylinder to the bottom end, and any method to remove it and replace it w/out damaging the piston ring(s)? Should I just let the dealer install the new cylinder?
Regards.
Charles
AnswerHi Again Charles:
Sorry, About your Luck with this Engine and Sorry for the Delay. I was Doing some Research on your Problem. I Called a Few of the Local Repair Centers and Inquired About their Shop Rates and Other Items. I have that happen All the Time. In your Case, I Suggest you Compare Prices of a New BP Blower to having a Shop Replace the Jug (Cylinder). If the Shop Breaks the Rings, then they Replace the Rings; if you Break the Rings, you Buy them. It May Be Cost Effective to Purchase a New BP Blower. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
Good Luck
