Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Wiring AC headlight circuit from DC regulated Briggs engine, briggs and stratton, regulator rectifier
QuestionI recently replaced a 28S777 B&S dual curcuit DC unregulated 15.5 HP engine (14 V AC Min. 2-4 A) with a 31B707-0026-E1 17 HP, 9A, 40 V AC at stator, DC regulated engine. The new engine has a single black wire connected directly to the regulator/rectifier through a green connector to a yellow wire. The single red wire/connector exiting the regulator/rectifier is DC only. My question is how I can reconnect my existing AC headlight circuit to this new engine's wiring system?
AnswerHello Tom:
The Simplest and Easiest Way to Wire the Headlights is to Run a New Power Supply Wire from the Ign Switch to the Headlight Switch and Replace the Headlight Bulbs with 12VDC Bulbs if Required. This Stator is a DC Stator Only and the Regulator Regulates the Voltage so the Battery is Not "Cooked" by the Stator Overcharging. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the B. Then Select Briggs and Stratton. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Select the File # 25. Then Select the Folder # 252700. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.
