Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 12HP tecumseh charging circuit, hp engines, alternator

Hi, have  XLIC 12 HP  OHV tecumseh OVXL120 202200 SER 82568 with a pair of wires  hanging  out of  alternator.

1 is red and 1 is yellow.

Could you tell me  how to hook these  up to  charge and/or to test?

Yellow is the AC for the lights and the red is the DC for charging the battery.

The above link is a repair manual that tells how to check the circuits.  It only covers up to 11 HP engines but the alternator tests and color code have not changed since 1992.
