Model #917271041 Sears Craftman 42 inch riding lawn mower
the deck does not drop down all way and the blade engage not engageing any idea on what to look for to fix?

Have you checked the deck adjustment? With sears mowers if you pull up the deck you should be able to adjust the deck so it goes lower. Check the lever make sure it is up and then turn the adjustment knob.If the blades are not engaging at all the Clutch hub may be burnt out or un plugged,or check for a fuse.
