QuestionHi, I have blown my engine and need either a bunch of parts or a new engine. I have taken this on and plan to do all job myself. To start I would like to know what is the correct replacement as well as the difference between a regular and short block. Am I limited to replacing the engine with the same HP engine or can i increase it? Last but not least I am sure I will need a beginners manual what do you suggest?
AnswerIf you really want to learn, and I mean learn, as you go I recomend this book.

It's expensive but is a great educational tool. It will be worth the investment.
If you just want to get by get this book.

The second book will be engine "basics" only. The first book is almost a text book and it covers more than just engines. If it uses a small engine, it's in this book.
A "short block" is all of the internal components and crankcase. If it bolts onto your engine it won't be on a "short block" that means no head no flywheel ,nothing. You get a crancase, crank, cam and piston and rod. That's it.
A complete is just that, complete.
You can put a Hemi in if you want to, it just takes a little rigging. Go with the same engine, it will be easier.
If you need a complete engine here is the source I recomend.
