Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs & Stratton 17.5hp, briggs stratton, new spark
QuestionMy father owns a MTD with a 17.5hp Briggs & Stratton, Model #13AF685G700, 21000 Series. It was running fine and then all of a sudden it will not start. It turns over, but will not start. He has changed and cleaned everything he can think of and it might start once and then it will not start again. He says it sounds like it is not getting fuel. He has checked the lines, put a new fuel filter, new spark plug, it is getting fire, new air filter, cleaned gas tank, has new fuel. Please help!! Thank you, Sherri
AnswerHello Sherri:
Check the Fuel Shut Off in the Carburetor. It has Wires Going to it. Turn Off the Gas Flow to the Carburetor. Remove the Solenoid and Turn the Ignition Switch On. The Solenoid Needle Should Draw Into the Housing. Turn the Switch Off the Needle Should Extend from the Housing. If the Solenoid is Working Properly, Then Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner (I use Gunk). Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install a New Kit if Required. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
Good Luck
