Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): v-belt replacement 42 craftsman mower, craftsman lawn tractor, tractor mower

How do you adjust the replacement deck v-belt properly?  It's way too loose.  Craftsman lawn tractor mower 18.5 HP, 42" deck, Model # 917.274640.  Thanks in advance for any information you can offer.

Hello Robin:

On the Front of the Deck where the Deck Hooks to the Front of the Mower Frame are 2 Adjusters. These Adjustments will Shift the Deck to the Rear and Tighten the Belt. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Mower at this Site Addy, http://www3.sears.com/ and Enter the Model Numbers in the Search Box at the Upper Left. Then Visually Verify the Mower and Click Continue. Then Select the Lift Assembly. The Breakdown #15 is the Adjusters. Hope this Helps. I am here if yu Require more Assistance.
