Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Starting Problems Briggs&Stratton 8HP, briggs stratton, proper manuals

Hello
I own a Murray Lawn Mower with a B&S 8HP Engine.
Now I have problems starting the engine.
The starter turns, but only make a sound like the gear wheel is sliding. It sounds like "chhhrrrrr".

I don´t own a Manual for that mower (it was a used one that I bought).

 Hello Thorsten:

 Send me the Model Numbers Off the Engine and the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manuals and Better Assist you. However, Remove the Starter and Check the Plastic Starter Gear for Cracks or Broken/Ripped Teeth. Thanks.
