QuestionI have a Sears Mini tiller with a tecumsah engine. The engine starts and will idle but when you give it the gas it surges up and down for 30 seconds or so the instantly dies. If you choke it again it will start and idle then do the same thing. I recently rebuilt the carburetor so I cannot figure out what it could be. Please help it's driving me nuts!!!!
Answerhave you cleaned or replaced filter in fuel tank??
its a very small filter found on end of line,
or at times in line like a straw. also have you adjusted carb. ???
there should be 2 set screws. one marked (h) one marked (L). those may have limiter caps on, but need to be removed and set. as a rule of thumb. turn them in til they stop. back out 1 - 1 1/2 turns each. start unit, and adjust. at high speed - ADJUST THE (H) TIL IT RUNS BEST . back and forth needle. lightly. maybe a 1/4 turn ??
