I have a john Deere lawn tractor that I am rebuilding.  I have gotten it running, but it shuts down when brake is released or when blades are engaged.  I bypassed the safety switches and it works.  I looked up the part on the john Deere site and think it might be the Rio Latch relay (part AT75769).  The two safety switches I bypassed seemed to check out OK with the continuity tester.  Am I on the right track?  Is there a way to test this relay before laying out more money for replacing parts?

you are    dead on track!!!!!!!    as for testing it?  i,d  find my nearest jd dealer   and have them test it, im sure they  can.
but if you by passed those switches  , and it worked, and you hooked up your tester to them  and found they are working?  then  i,m quite sure its the relay.
this has been a common  problem,  homedepot whom sells them  here in pa.   may just carry them.
