Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): snow thrower problem, snow thrower, check fuel

Hello, I have a craftsman 5.0 snow thrower that was given to me it has not been used in two years, i am having trouble getting it started. I mixed the oil and gas, pushed the choke and pulled the cord numerous times, still nothing, any suggestions

since todays units mainly have a solid state breakerless firing system  , id say it has spark   but should pull plug and check  .   if it sat that long   i,d say carb.  is gummed up and needs a cleaning, wahtch how it comes apart, clean  and reinstall.  check  fuel filter which at times is in tank  on fuel line,  or inline   or at carb.
