Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 14 hp Briggs, briggs and stratton, hp briggs

I purchased a new B & S 14 HP engine. 294447 1155. It has two wires not connected. a long red wire and short black wire. Can you tell me what these two wires are for. I don't want to short something out messing around trying figure them out. Thanks  Ron

 Hello Ron:

 From your Description it Sounds like you are Talking about the Red(Charging Wire from Stator) and the Black Wire is from the Coil(Shutoff Wire) to the Ignition Switch or the Throttle Control Bracket , where it Connects to the Ignition Switch. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine at this Addy http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Click the B. Then Select Briggs and Stratton. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. The Select the File # 29. Then Select the Folder # 294400. This will Download the Breakdown/IPL of the Engine. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more  Assistance.
