QuestionDear Sir, I cannot find the transaxle. The short axle & gear assembly connects to the left rear wheel and the long axle & gear assembly connects to the right rear wheel. Both assemblies mesh together at a part called the differential cross which is covered by a cup saw like housing. Running perpendicular through the diferential cross is a pinion shaft with an upper and lower pinion gear which multiplies force to the rear wheels. The entire differential assembly is driven by a bicycle chain sprocket assembly which is tied to the front engine from the short assembly side. The only part with a number on it is the differential cross. I need the gears from the short and long assembly. Is there anything else I can do? Thank you.

Dear Sir,
I have a yellow 1979 JC Penney front engine rider mower. The OEM stamp or plate is obliterated so I cannot tell who the original manufacturer is. We need an axle & gear assembly (in the JC Penney manual it is under the heading of differential illustration, parts list model 21402). The lawn mower specifications are 10HP 4 cycle 399cc engine by Tecumseh, Model VM100-157023A. The engine is fine, I just need the axle part and was wondering if other years would fit, if I can't find the original, like a universal part. JC Penney cannot help me because they no longer carry the part. The part # is 403015. Thanks!

Hello Karen:
On the Transaxle there is a Plate that has the OEM and Model Numbers of the Transaxle. Send me these Numbers, Please. With these Numbers I can Locate a Breakdown and Supplier for the Parts you Require. It should be a Peerless, Dana, Foote or Spicer Transaxle. The Part Numbers you have are Penney's Part Numbers. Thanks.

Question Follow up
Dear Sir-Thank you for your prompt reply but, I don't know what part the transaxle is. I have a part called a differential cross with A3242 stamped above and 12 stamped below. That is all the numbers I could find. Could I email a picture of the parts page to identify what parts I need, because the differential cross itself seems fine? You've been most helpful even if this doesn't pan out. Mahalo!
