Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Mountfield 25 ride on, grade fuel, fuel filter

I have just been given an old mountfield 25 ride on, when operating, it revs ups and down on it own and stops after several minutes, if I restart it, the same thing happens again.

Hi, Sorry for the Delay! It sounds like a fuel problem! What I would do first is drain the gas out of the tank & carb & put some mid grade fuel in it. Check the Fuel Filter & Spark plug! when you start it back it still might do it till all the old gas is gone, but more then likly it will stop within a few minutes.
Let me know what happens! If that dose not work we will go to the next step..
