QuestionHi John,
The mower model is 21677X92B and the engine model is TVS115 56014B (C). Is the crankcase vent the place where the foam air filter goes? The filter looks like a green block of foam. I must admit, I never pay much attention to the air filter and I haven't changed the oil in a couple years, just add if needed. I don't think there is too much oil, because I have been running it all summer without a problem. I'll also check the oil for gas smell.
Thanks for your help,
Nick

Hi John,
I have a 12year old Murray push mower with a 4hp Tecumseh engine. All of a sudden today the engine started sputtering, with oil coming out of the air cleaner and smoke coming out of the exhaust. I immediately stopped the engine.
Is it time for a new mower?
Thanks,
Nick

Hello Nick:
Check the Oil Level. Is it Overfilled? Does it have a Gas Smell to it? Check the Crankcase Vent. If the Vent has Stopped up it will Allow Oil to be Sucked into the Carburator and cause the Problem you Described. Send me the Model Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. With these Numbers I May be Able to Locate a Breakdown and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Answer Hello Nick:
Go to this Addy http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Click on the T. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Dont have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers TVS115-56014B. Then Download the File for this Engine. The Crankcase Vent/Breather is #7 on Page 1 of 7. If the Vent/Breather is Bad it wiil Cause the Problem you are having. If the Vent/Breather is Good, then Check for a Blown Headgasket or a Ring has Cracked/Broken and is Causing the Problem. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
