Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Repairing Troy-bilt lawn mower, crankshaft seal, crankcase breather
QuestionI asked a question a couple days ago about a lawn mower that discharges oil onto the mower deck. You asked for the model numbers off the engine. Here are the numbers for the tecumsch Vector engine - about a 5 or 6 horse - Model # VLV55 501017A (c) Displacement 4321K
Again, the mower starts and runs well, but after about 15 minutes of running, it covers the deck with oil.
Any advise you could give would be appreciated. Thanks.
Answer Hello Paul:
There are Several Possible Causes for this Problem. 1- the Upper Crankshaft Seal. 2- The Lower Crankshaft Seal. 3- The Oil Pan Gasket. 4- The Crankcase Breather not Working Properly. 5- The Rings are Bad and When the Cylinder Expands, the Rings Let Compression by to the Crankcase and Blow the Oil Out the Crankcase Breather or the Seals. You can View a Breakdown of this Engine at this Addy http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I really like to know the Outcome. Thanks.
Good Luck
