Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn Mower, exxon superflo, wont kick
QuestionI have a question about my huskey push mower . The mower was low on oil the last time i used it about a week or more ago and so i would put more oil in for this time. I only put about 1/3 qt because thats all that was left in the bottle. Now i cant get the mower to start . When i pull the string it will wont kick over . Oh yea i used Exxon superflo SAE 30 moter oil, was that the right choice? also the bottum of my mower is kind of dirty could that keep the blades from spinning when i try to start it? Your help would be much appreciated .
Thank you
AnswerJosh here is what you need to do. First tip the mower on its side, air filter up dipstick down. Pull the dipstick and drain the oil, start fresh. The engine will hold between 20 and 24 ozs. Get a putty knife and clean under your deck also. With the spark plug unhooked grab the blade and make sure it turns. It's also and good idea to check the air filter and plug. Replace if nessasary. The oil you used was correct. If the blade wont turn the motor is probably seized, and in that case you may need a new mower. Good luck
