Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Follow up to Earlier Question, ammeter, tyring
QuestionRe: Riding Mower Won't Start
I said I would post back after looking for a short in my electrical system. Results are good and bad. The good - when jumped directly from the battery, the starter spins nicely. The bad - disconnecting items one by one and tyring the key shows a full deflection of the ammeter every time I try it, so I'm no closer to finding the source of the short. A quick inspection of the harness doesn't reveal any obvious cuts, worn spots, etc (but I couldn't inspect every inch). I managed to blow the main fuse twice during my brief testing. Any other ideas on tracking down the source of my electrical gremlin?
Answer Hello Alan:
Electrical Problems Such as Yours are Hard to Find. It can Take Up to 2 Full Days for a Mechanic to Go Over the Mower and Locate the Problem. It May be Eaiser to Unplug All the Components and then Start Plugging them Back into the Harness. I Normally Remove the Components One at a Time, but I have Other Mechanics that Start with Only the Harness. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.
Very Good Luck
Respectfully
John
