Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs and Stratton Quattro ignition, briggs and stratton, match book
QuestionTrying to be a good kid and clean Dad's lawnmower, my son, removed componets that he should not have. The componet that the sparkplug is attached to was removed. I was wondering if there is a certain gap between that piece, and the (flywheel)?. I had put it back together with a .32 gap, and it almost started but would die rather quickly. Fuel, and oil, are not a problem.
Please help!!
Thanks,
Matt Duran
Answer Hello Matt:
The Coil Gap is .020in. A Match Book Works Well for Setting the Coil. Place the Match Book Between the Coil and the Flywheel Magnet. With the Magent Holding the Coil, Tighten the Coil. Then Turn the Flywheel and Pull the Match Book at the Same Time to Remove the Match Book. You May have to Start and Run the Engine for 20 to 30 Seconds with Starter Fluid if the Carburator Got Water Into it. **NO MORE THAN 30 SECONDS; DAMAGE MAY OCCUR IF RUN LONGER ON THE STARTER FLUID** Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.
Good Luck
