Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Timimg setting for briggs 4.5hp, cam gear, hello bill
QuestionWhile removing the oil pan the Plastic cam gear came loose that controls the valves. What markings do I line up on the cam gear & crank gear? There is a small dot on the crank gear but not sure what marking on the plastic cam gear is aligned with it?
Answer Hello Bill:
Look at the Teeth of the Cam Gear. You will See a Dip in the Ring Between the Teeth. That Dip is the Timing Mark. It Lines Up with the Mark on the Crankshaft Tooth. There should be a Small Hole Dirrectly Behind the Dip Also. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.
Good Luck
