Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): spark advance or retard, plunger, condenser

Question
I need to replace the points and condenser in a
8hp horizontal B&S engine. I would like to know degree before TDC to set my spark.

 Hello James:

 If the Engine Has Points and Condensor then Turn the Engine Until the Plunger for the Point Set Drops and then Returns Full Out. Set the Points at .020in. There is no certain Degree used. When the Plunger is Full Out, that is all that is Required. Hope this Helps.
