QuestionAllen, I tried what you suggested, it spit the fuel out, so you're saying a timing issue possibly?
The fuel pump sealing didn't help, it was still leaking from the crack, but there is plenty of fuel going into the carb.
I did removed the main bolt for the flywheel, if the woodruff key you were talking about is right there then it isn't sheared. If I have to remove the flywheel first to see the woodruff key then I still have to do that, can you clarify this Allen?
I did try to pry the flywheel off but its tight, so I wanted to verify that the woodruff key isn't or is the one right on top.
I tried to set the timing by using a business card for the gap, no help. The mower just turns over. I get backfiring from both the carb and the exhaust, especially if I put the throttle to full choke.
I cant understand why I never had a problem on this one year old mower. One shutdown then bam, no starting!! Its one year old only...112 hrs. thanks Allen.
AnswerHey Ron
- Yeah, you gotta pull the flywheel to see the key. I know- its a bummer. Best way is to rent a large two-jaw puller from autozone. Next best way is to drive a wedge under one side to load it, pop the other side with a brass hammer to pop it loose (the flywheel).
You know tho- a shop will do this for you fairly quickly, but if you choose that route- stay close to them let them know YOU know its a timing issue and a flywheel key. No monkey business!
Lemme know- (sorry for the responce delay -vac)
