Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Engine leaks oil, engine leaks, crankshaft seal
QuestionI have a Honda HR215SXA self propelled mower. Oil started pouring out from under the engine cover when I was mowing yesterday. It forced all of the oil out of the engine. Can you give me some idea as to this problem.
Answer Hello Herschel:
There are 3 possible Causes. 1- The upper Crankshaft Seal is Blown. 2. The Crankcase Vent is Stopped up. Needs Cleaning or Replacing. 3- Cracked Ring. This lets Compression Bypass into Crankcase and blow out the oil around the Seals and the Crankcase Vent. Hope this Helps.
Good Luck
