Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Carbureator flooding, rear tine, piece of dirt
QuestionI have a 8hp rear tine rototiller. I have been overseas the past 4 years and it has been in storage. No problem with it starting up BUT.. I noticed copious amounts of fuel leaking from air filter. I removed the filter and there is a steady stream of gasoline flowing while unit is not running. Naturally with it running it gets too rich and cuts off and the fuel continues to flow. I have only shifted the choke in attempts to stymie flow. Pan under carburator now as I type this. Easy solution I am sure. Please point me in right direction. Thanks.. Mike
AnswerHi Mike,
It sounds to me like the carb's float is not closing. There may be a piece of dirt or gummed fuel inside. I would remove the float bowl and take a look. A new needle and seat may be needed. Inspect the float itself, also.
Let me know how you make out.
