Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda HR215 stops when blade is engaged, safety switches, safety switch

Question
John, we have looked at the blade mechanism engaged and disengaged and it is free spinning when motor is NOT running. The motor starts and idles just fine but as soon as you engage the blade it stops. Any other ideas or places to look?

 Hello Melvin:

 There are Safety Switches that Can and Do cause this Problem and Also the Carb Can and Does Cause this Problem. If it Shuts Off as if you Turned Off the Key, Look for the Bad Safety Switch. If not then The Carb Needs Cleaned and Rebuilt. Hope this Helps
