QuestionLast year my Mother-in-Law gave us her Craftsman Riding Mower (Model # 536.270112) which she had bought used and couldn't use since her yard was too small.
It worked great last year.
This year, when I first went to use it, I could not get it to start. My first thought was the battery was dead, but we proved beyond doubt it is fully charged and ready to go.
When I turn the key in the ignition, I get nothing.
As it was a used purchase, it did not come with an owners manual. The data sheet on the mower shows it was built in 1989. She had it serviced by a local lawn-mower person the first year after she owned it.
Any thoughts?
AnswerHiya Bruce- first, do the headlights work? If no- then check the battery cables. If yes- then look at the safety start switch for the clutch/brake unde the motor. A large paperclip will jump out the switch for a test. Theres also a switch under the seat (it is a frequent troublespot). Lemme know what you find!
