Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): briggs 14.5 pulley removal, rust buster, set screw
QuestionI have a Murray tractor with a 14.5hp briggs. I need to replace the pto seal that is leaking.
How do I remove the pulley, is it pressed on?
Answer Hello Luke
You will more than likey have to heat the pulley to remove it. Also spray some PB Rust Buster so it will penetrate between the shaft and the pulley and let soak overnight. Over the years rust builds up between the shaft and the pulley. Also make sure there is not a set screw located in the side if the pulley.
This should help remove the pulley.
