Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 19.5hp briggs & strat., tall grass, initial problem

Mower quit. Weak spark(yellow) and fuel is spritzing out from top of carb(from the air intake where the choke butterfly is).   Replaced the fuel filter,fuel,and bought a new coil. No help. Motor trys to start then quits. Any suggestions? Thanks.                                                          Lost in the Tall Grass                  Eric

What were the circumstances of its initial problem?  Was the engine in storage or was an object struck?  Generally, fuel backflow up into the carb is an indication of a timing problem, or an intake valve issue.  Ignore the color of the spark, get a tester, set it at .030 and try it.  If the spark occurs, ignition is ok.  Model number of the engine would give me more to go on if you have it.
